Scenes from the University Choirs concert at the State Playhouse this past Saturday.

The Cal State LA Concert and Chamber Choir presented Hope Lingers Here, an afternoon of music centered on connection and hope. It was a meaningful close to a full week of Department of Music concerts.

Thank you to our student performers, faculty, staff, and everyone who came out to support live music at Cal State LA.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the mothers and mother figures whose love our students and community.

On May 1, Cal State LA Mariachi hosted a special Mother’s Day concert. The nearly three-hour concert brought together mariachi groups from Cal State LA and local schools including Garey High School, Legacy VAPA High School, Garfield High School, Wilson High School, South Gate High School, and Montebello USD, for an evening of festive performances and joyful moments.

The night concluded with all of the mariachi groups joining together to perform “Las Mañanitas,” as mariachi students walked into the audience to hand roses to their mothers.
