I know that today is MLK Day. But can I just say how much I loved Coretta Scott King. She was such a beautiful woman, both inside and out. So poised. So well-spoken. Understanding. Strong. A leader. So many thing that us mothers strive to be. She was also the very force that cultivated the man in which we love. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was such a powerful man. My favorite aspect of his legacy is that he fought for legislature demanding what was owed to our communities: land and wealth redistribution, which he was ultimately killed for. Non-BIPOC non-allies love to use Dr. Martin Luther King as a standard for how Black people should behave when under duress and being legally disenfranchised while conveniently leaving out the fact that they murdered him just as well. It doesn’t matter if we march or riot, burn or protest, run from the law or become law makers to change the laws that imprison us in the first place. You don’t like to hear our voices and especially if in challenge to the false reality and narrative that you created for us to fall victim to for your benefit. You don’t get to quote Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to us as you try to manipulate our mental and physical well-being. www.ourlearningcurve.co
