Our FIRST EVER St. James' socially distanced mask parade is coming up! Preparations are on the way and we are excited to see our students.

Preschool students are getting ready for a spooktacular Halloween with Halloween-themed art projects. Don't forget to wear your costume on Friday and drive through the first-ever Halloween mask parade on Friday between 12:30-3pm. We have lots of treats and surprises in store for you. As a reminder, we will be at school until 5:00pm on Friday if you are unable to make the parade.

Our students have been very thorough with following social distancing protocols. Every morning students are temperature checked by our school nurse, and parents complete a symptoms questionnaire. We appreciate that our preschool students want to have fun all the while keeping our preschool teachers and staffulty safe! That's what servant leadership is all about!

Constructivist teaching and learning are important in the early years of a child's development; through this approach children become the stewards of their learning. In this photo, we see a child who has just completed a project that involved dissolving sugar into water and is now molding a cheesecloth with a balloon to make a ghost from the sugar water for Halloween.

In this photo, Charlie is encouraging people to vote. Charlie is in Mrs. Chau and Ms. Clare's Kindergarten Class. Great Job Charlie, what an excellent servant-leadership.

Anthony, in 1st grade, is working on Daily Computation in the breakout room with Mrs. Gonzalez. He can concentrate better on his work in a small group, and he is very happy that teachers help him a lot when he is working to solve a problem.

Liv, in Mrs. Fleisher's and Mrs. Cartagena's Kindergaten class, enjoyed learning about Los colores with Maestra Diaz this week.

Diane, a sixth-grader in Mr. Dar's class, completes her homework with the assistance of pal, Ruby.

Lucas, in Mr. Duggan's fourth-grade class, is taking a cello lesson every Wednesday with Ms. Barcia-Colombo as an enrichment program.

After Mrs. Kammula had a lesson on service learning, first grader Zelda said she wanted to donate the money she received from her grandma to the dog rescue where she found her dog, Matilda.
