USC's Institute for German and European Studies The USC-Max Kade Institute is a research center devoted to German and European studies.

Located just north of the USC campus, it hosts lectures, conferences, and performances for students, scholars and the general public. Its main areas of emphases include: Exile Studies; Cold War Studies; German History, Film and Aesthetics; and Contemporary German and European Affairs.
