It is dedicated to using the union as a means of fighting for student-worker rights amidst the UC-wide and UCLA budget cuts.

AWDU, Academic Workers for a Democratic Union, is a statewide movement of student-workers in the UC system who have come together to ensure that UAW 2865 is a transparent, participatory democratic, bottom-up union with high levels of active member participation. UAW 2865 vacancy elections are coming up February 14-15, and AWDU has some great candidates running for positions statewide and at UCLA! Erin Conley is up for Southern Vice President on the statewide executive board, and Renee Hudson, Alexei Nowak, Mathew Sandoval, and Alex Holstrom-Smith are running for Head Steward positions at UCLA. Finally, Jason Ball ran unopposed and is now our new Unit Chair at UCLA. Congratulations, Jason!
