Today, Da Vinci RISE at APCH was visited by fellow microschool builders Lisette and Oscar Valles. Lisette and Oscar are the founders and school leaders of in Downey, CA. Ellemercito Academy’s vision is to provide students with a real-world, highly personalized, and transformative education through a project and place-based approach, nurturing critical thinking, fostering a growth mindset, and demonstrating profound empathy. Sharing a similar student population, Ellemercito and RISE were brought together by as recipients of the Big Push for Small Schools Grant. We are incredibly grateful for this fruitful relationship.

We’re thrilled to highlight our talented RISE High School student, Sebastian, who shone brilliantly as Mal Beineke in Da Vinci’s first-ever musical, “The Addams Family.” With over 1,010 audience members across six performances, Sebastian’s performance was a standout in this spectacular production. Bravo, Sebastian! 🌟👏

At first, Donnaysia thought it strange the teachers at Da Vinci RISE High, a charter school in Los Angeles designed around the need of at-promise youth, would greet her with a cheerful smile and a “good morning.”
