George C. Fatheree III ’07, LMU Board of Trustees and LLS Board of Directors member, worked with the descendants of enslaved 19th century potter David Drake to restore their rightful ownership of two stoneware jars from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. It is the first time an enslaved artist’s work has been repatriated, using a new legal model for ethical ownership that Fatheree developed.

LLS alumni Clifton Albright Jr. ’20, Albright, Yee & Schmit, APC; Nadine Khedry ’18, Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP; and Isabel Bettina Velasquez ’25, Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. spoke on the panel “Shaping Success: Alumni Perspectives on Purpose, Professional Growth, and Balance in Law School and Practice,” hosted by the Academic Success Program. Students learned from an engaging discussion about what success looks like in law school and beyond, followed by a networking reception.
