The pickup swap is finally complete.
I converted my 2007 ESP LTD Stephen Carpenter SC-607 from active EMGs to a passive Seymour Duncan Pegasus/Sentient set, and this is the first playthrough.

I added a few notes throughout the video to explain the conversion and some of the changes.
What do you hear? Active or passive?

The 909 still has one of the BEST kick drums ever made 🔥

Messing around on my 2007 ESP LTD Stephen Carpenter 7-string using the original active pickups before I swap them out for a Seymour Duncan Pegasus/Sentient set.

The beat was inspired by the legendary Funky Drummer groove by James Brown, programmed on my RD-9/909 style drum machine.

What I’m playing here is actually part of my warm-up process when I’m searching for riff ideas, sometimes I use a one-hand-at-a-time approach, starting with the picking hand and then connecting the fretting hand afterward.

I also teach All-4ths tuning and modern guitar approaches at Guitar Lab Hollywood.

Just a little sneak peek from yesterday’s rehearsal space! We’ve been working hard on some fresh tracks, including this cover of “Wild Mustang” by the king of surf guitar himself, Dick Dale. 🏄‍♂️🎸

If you dig this, you’re gonna want to clear your schedule two weeks from now. The Dune Tones are bringing a full live-stream performance straight to your screens on Friday, May 29th at 7 PM!

We are finalizing the platform details this week, so keep your eyes on our page for the official link.
