Ryman Arts

Ryman Arts provides free advanced drawing and painting classes along with college and career planning for motivated teenagers with high potential.

From a single drawing class for 12 students in 1990, Ryman Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has grown to 40 classes for 600 students annually. We offer intensive out-of-school studio art instruction, college and career guidance, art supplies, and support services—all at no cost to the student.

Meet the creative voices behind Handcrafted!

At Ryman Arts, mentorship and learning from working artists have always been central to helping young people imagine what’s possible for their own creative futures. Handcrafted brings that spirit to the stage through a conversation with creative leaders whose work has inspired audiences around the world.

Following a private screening of Disneyland Handcrafted, join us for a conversation featuring:

🎬 Mark Catalena (Producer, Disneyland Handcrafted) is a Peabody Award-winning and multiple Emmy-nominated producer whose work includes The Imagineering Story and 100 Years of Warner Bros.

🏰 Tom Morris, (Former Walt Disney Imagineering Executive) spent more than 35 years helping shape Disney parks and attractions around the world, including Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.

✨ Emo O’Brien, (Portfolio Executive Creative Producer, Walt Disney Imagineering) began as an Imagineer in '97 and has contributed extensively to projects at Disney sites around the globe, including Disneyland Resort in Anaheim and the Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan.

Moderated by author and Disney historian Tim O’Day, with an introduction by Joshua You (Ryman ’19), Concept Artist for Walt Disney Imagineering.

Together, they’ll explore the creativity, craftsmanship, collaboration, and mentorship that bring imaginative worlds to life.

Last week we wrapped up the second Summer Semester at the USC Roski School of Art & Design! Students participated in eight weeks of intensive classes, consisting of two eight-hour work sessions each.

On July 13, students and their families came together on campus to celebrate our Culmination Art Show, mingle with their peers, and enjoy this semester’s outstanding artworks.

Congratulations to our summer students, teaching assistants, and faculty for all your hard work! We look forward to seeing you again soon.

From the classroom to the creative economy. 🧑‍🎨 Our inaugural pLAtform cohort is officially underway! For 12 weeks this summer, 14 Ryman Arts alumni will build digital art skills, develop their portfolios, and connect with mentors and industry professionals as they prepare for careers in the creative industries.

Support student safety, program operations, and communication among students, families, faculty, and campus partners.

For this week's , we'd like to congratulate Michelle Kaye Washington (Ryman '10) on her upcoming solo exhibition, "AGAINST THE GRAIN," opening May 22 at Drummond Studio Gallery in Charleston, South Carolina!

Through layered imagery and storytelling, the exhibition reflects on the history of rice plantations in the American South and the lives, labor, and experiences connected to them.

Drawn Together LA is hosting another live model drawing session, and Ryman Arts alumni are invited!

Founded by alumna Kaylee Hawley (Ryman ’15), with support from Lynette Haro (Ryman ’11), Brianna Proud (Ryman ’19), and Robin Enriquez (Ryman ‘14), creates welcoming, accessible live-model drawing sessions for artists to practice, connect, and create together.
