This week marks 17 years at Musicians Institute
Hard to believe how much life, music, and humanity can fit into nearly two decades of teaching.
Over the years I’ve had the privilege to teach thousands of students, run hundreds of classes, guide dozens of senior projects, write and develop course curricula, launch the MIO program from day one, and certify hundreds of students in Logic Pro, while teaching every level of Pro Tools and Logic Pro, both on campus and, in recent years, mostly online with students from all over the world.
I’ve led masterclasses, clinics, special events, and even had the chance to present at places like the Grammy Museum. I’ve also been honored to receive Faculty of the Year multiple times, something that means a lot because it comes from both students and fellow instructors.
I’m grateful to every student I’ve met along the way, to every colleague who walked this journey with me, and to everyone who trusted me with their learning.
A special thanks to Jonathan Newkirk and Maurice Verloop for their support throughout these years.
Here’s to 17 years, and whatever comes next.
Thank you, MI. 🙏

Testing my revamped home studio 🎛 Logic Pro 11 vs. Pro Tools 2025 on macOS Sequoia (Mac Studio · M4 Max · 64GB RAM).
As a producer and teacher, I like to stay one macOS behind — after one year on Sonoma, I finally switched to Sequoia. I had already tested it on a MacBook Air M3, but on Mac Studio the performance is smoother: less CPU/GPU/RAM usage, more stability, and a much better workflow across both DAWs.
👉 What do you think? Which DAW works best for you?
💻 And what macOS are you currently running?

Hey there!
You know, I just couldn’t catch a wink of sleep tonight. I think a bit of late-night coffee and chocolate turned me into a night owl with extra energy. So there I was, at three in the morning, just having a little jam session for myself. I dusted off my Novation Launchpad XL and the PreSonus FaderPort 2, opened up Logic Pro 11, and just started improvising some groovy beats and loops. It’s been a while since I had a 3 a.m. solo music adventure, and honestly, I loved every minute of it.
So, just wanted to share that little burst of creative fun. Hope you enjoy hearing about it, and have a wonderful night!

🌟 Celebrating 17 Years with UCLA Extension 🌟 | Fall Classes in Logic Pro & Pro Tools Now Open
I’m proud to mark 17 years of teaching at UCLA Extension — nearly 150 classes taught (both on campus and online), over 2,000 students trained, plus several webinars and master classes. Over the years, I also completed the Instructor Development Program certificate, which helped me strengthen and expand my teaching skills to reach learners of all levels and cultural backgrounds.
Along this journey, I’ve been honored with Outstanding Instructor of the Year in Music, but what I value most is the opportunity to help students grow their creativity and technical abilities in today’s ever-evolving music industry.
🎶 This Fall, my popular Logic Pro and Pro Tools courses are open for enrollment! We’ll explore the latest updates in Logic Pro 11 and Pro Tools 2025, with special attention to the AI-powered tools now transforming both DAWs.
Classes are open to songwriters, composers, producers, beat makers, DJ artists, voice-over talent, audio engineers, and anyone eager to master today’s most powerful DAWs.
Seats are limited and tend to go fast. If you’re ready to sharpen your DAW skills and stay ahead of the curve, I’d love to see you in class.

Today marks my second anniversary as an American citizen, and it’s a bittersweet milestone. It’s the second one our daughter and I, celebrated without Ale Gambini by our side.
Even though she was in such a difficult place, having just undergone a major (whipple) surgery and in the midst of chemotherapy, she never gave up. She even managed to keep her beautiful smile, and I’m so incredibly proud of her. My family being here to support us during that time was such a silver lining, and it made that citizenship ceremony even more special.
Becoming citizens after 15 years in this country was a dream we shared, and we made it there together before everything changed. Now, it’s up to my daughter and me to keep that dream alive and continue building the future we envisioned.
