A recently published CEIN article has been selected as an Extramural Paper of the Month! Congrats to all co-authors on your work assessing toxicity of metal oxide !
"By examining the toxicological profile of 29 metal oxide nanoparticles, NIEHS grantees demonstrated that certain types of nanoparticles are more toxic to liver cells, and that different nanoparticles may lead to changes in different types of cells. The study provided a reference grid for toxicity screening of metal oxide nanoparticles, which are among the most abundant engineered nanomaterials produced. They are used in personal care products, clothing, and other consumer goods."

NEW POST- Improved Method to Understand if a Material is Toxic.
Researchers at CEIN have developed an improved test for the toxic effects of . This type of toxicological testing is often time- and labor-intensive, and very expensive. This new test allows researchers to prioritize the nanomaterials to fully test by rapidly identifying those that are predicted to have toxic effects.

Differential effects of copper nanoparticles/microparticles in agronomic and physiological parameters of oregano (Origanum vulgare) The effects of metallic copper nanoparticles (nCu) in plants are not well understood. In this study, soil grown oregano (Origanum vulgare) was exposed for 60 days to nCu and Cu microparticles (μCu) at 0–200 mg Cu/kg. At harvest, Cu accumulation, biomass production, nutrient composition, and Cu fract...
