As we wrap up this year’s Black History Month, we want to take a moment to honor our Black team members. During our training this month, we delved into important discussions about the intersectionality of Black Children with Disabilities.
Together, we navigated through a weighty conversation about the dark history of slavery and the lingering effects of systemic racism today. We talked about how this manifests in society, including the impact of miseducation, the stigma surrounding mental health, and the challenges faced by those with ASD diagnoses.
Let’s keep this dialogue going beyond Black History Month! Join us as we continue to explore these vital topics throughout the year.🖤🧩🌟

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to neurodiversity. Each child experiences the world differently, and this can be reflected in their behavior, interests, and abilities.
Some common signs that a child may be neurodiverse include:
· Difficulty with social interactions
· Repetitive or restricted interests or behaviors
· Sensitivity to sensory input
· Difficulty with change or transitions
· Nonverbal communication difficulties
If you suspect your child may be neurodiverse, the best thing you can do is seek out professional help. A trained professional can assess your child and provide you with resources and support.
Remember, there is no shame in seeking help – neurodiversity is nothing to be ashamed of. Your child is just wired differently, and that’s okay.
