🧠 AP Psychology Students Learn by Doing 🧠

Students in AP Psychology got hands-on with the nervous system last week! After learning about how the central and peripheral nervous systems work together, students created their own life-sized nervous system models by outlining their classmates and mapping how sensory and motor neurons travel throughout the body.

🧪 AP Biology students recently put our new spectrophotometers to work in a lab exploring how common cleaners affect beet cell membranes.

Students investigated how factors like acidity, salt ions, and nonpolar hydrocarbon chains can impact membrane integrity by measuring pigment leakage into the surrounding solution — and collected some great data along the way!

A big thank you to FPIP, our parent organization, for helping fund the cool equipment that makes hands-on science like this possible at VIPHS! 🔬📊

🚀 STEM Club Prepares for the American Rocketry Challenge!

Our STEM Club is reaching for new heights as students prepare to compete in the American Rocketry Challenge! On October 10, students will launch model rockets to explore the principles of aerodynamics, propulsion, and flight. This hands-on experience will lay the groundwork for their next challenge: designing, building, and launching their very own rocket from scratch!

It's a great example of how STEM at VIPHS combines scientific inquiry, engineering, and hands-on learning to turn ambitious ideas into reality.

🌍🐪 AP World History students put their knowledge to work in a Silk Road trade simulation, navigating the movement of goods, ideas, technologies, and cultures across Afro-Eurasia from 1200–1450. A great reminder that academic rigor and student engagement aren’t mutually exclusive!

Last night, our Class of 2027 officially kicked off the college application season! Students and families walked through the major steps of the application process, from building a college list and understanding deadlines to applications, essays, financial aid, and everything that comes next.

It’s an exciting time for our seniors, and we’re looking forward to supporting them every step of the way as they work toward finding their right-fit college! 🎉📚

🎓 A Great First Week at VIPHS! 🎓

The 2026–2027 school year is officially underway, and the VIP Experience is already in full swing! From collaborative learning in the classroom to college counseling and conversations about students’ futures, our first week was filled with the energy, engagement, and personal attention that make VIPHS special.

It has been wonderful to see students reconnecting, meeting new classmates and teachers, and settling into another year of learning and growth. 📚 We’re excited for everything ahead! ✨

From Germany to Switzerland, our students explored the future of sustainability in action! 🌍✨

Led by VIPHS science teacher Ms. Winkle and former VIPHS science teacher Dr. Foldi, who now teaches college in Oregon, this international trip brought classroom learning to life as students experienced innovative approaches to clean energy, recycling, urban farming, eco-tourism, and sustainable design.
