Rachel earned her master's degrees in Jewish Nonprofit Management and Jewish Education from Hebrew Union College, and has gone on to build an extraordinary career in Jewish communal life — most recently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy & Impact Officer at Shalom Austin.

We are proud to count Rachel among our alumni and can't wait to see all that she will accomplish in this new role. The Austin Jewish community is in wonderful hands. 💙

As the eve of Chanukah approaches, our Zschool community is devastated by the horrific attack on a public menorah lighting in Sydney’s Bondi Beach. In the face of this senseless murder of at least 11 innocent lives, including Rabbi Eli Schlanger, who served his community there for nearly two decades, we grieve with our alumni in Australia and the entire Jewish community there, alongside the victims, their families, and Jewish communities around the world.

Our hearts break as we are confronted with such violence and hatred during this time meant for light, warmth, and togetherness. Chanukah reminds us that even in periods of darkness, light can endure. That light is sustained as we care for one another and refuse to let violence or hatred define who we are or how we gather.

Our Zschool community stands united in mourning and in our firm commitment to one another’s safety and dignity. May the memories of the victims be for a blessing, and may we find strength in our Jewish community, values and traditions as we navigate this painful moment together.
