International Dance Show Huge Success!
"The annual show was a success, the many different cultures were represented though exciting dances," shares Master of Ceremony and Senior Jovan H.
"The performance was motiving, it inspired students to keep their cultures alive and it unified our multicultural campus," said Angelica, mother and parent volunteer.

On April 24th the Science Department hosted their Annual Science Fair. Students displayed their experiments for the LAHS community. Senior Jeffery M. shares, "It was great to share my hard work with my peers and teachers."
Science Teacher Mr. Perez, adds, "the event was a success, students did an awesome job and the visitors were all engaged."

LA High School senior student Joshua Guernon accepted an award during the 43rd Annual Black Child Conference and Scholarship Luncheon sponsored by COBA (Council of Black Administrators). The theme was: "Dreams Achieved: Empowering Mindsets and Skill Sets". LAUSD Interim Superintendent Vivian Ekchian personally congratulated Joshua Guernon for winning the AEMP Written Word/Multimedia Contest for high school.

Congratulations!!! We are proud to announce that Los Angeles High School senior student, Joshua G., has been selected as the Written Word Essay/ Multi-Media Contest winner for the 9th – 12th grade level span!
Los Angeles High School participated in the Academic English Mastery Program's District-Wide Written Word/Multimedia Contest. The task was to develop a multimedia presentation describing how an African-American person inspired a student to lift her/his voice to advocate for social justice in our school and community. This Stand Up/Speak Out contest was honoring African American History Month.
Los Angele High School entered the contest with a rap song written and performed by our senior Joshua Guernon, aka Lil Drift, dedicated to Martin luther King Jr.
Josh won the contest for the high school level span within the district. He and his parents are invited to participate in an award ceremony this Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Council of Black Administrators (COBA) Conference.
"Josh is an incredibly talented, creative rap artist. We are so proud of him! Great music career is ahead of him. We wish him Good Luck!" stated Ms. Gotzeva, Title III Instructional Coach at LA High.

Moment of Silence
LAHS honored the 17 lives lost at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida by participating in a moment of silence.
“It was memorable and special that we gathered in the football field,” explains Samantha S., 9th grader. She adds, “I’m so glad we were able to show respect, because that is what we need today in schools.”

MESA Team Places at UCLA Engineering Competition
On March 10th our Mathematics Engineering and Science Achievement (MESA) team placed at the UCLA National Engineering Design Competition preliminaries.
Tenth grader Lydia M. shared, “We constructed a bridge to test weight.” She further added, “It was fun, I liked competing against other schools and can’t wait to do it again next year!”
