A Town-Gown Partnership Focused on Climate Resilience 04/08/2026

Proud to highlight the remarkable work of Agnes Scott College students, whose hands-on contributions to climate resilience are making a real difference.

As featured in Inside Higher Ed, Agnes Scott students have helped deploy heat and flood sensors across Decatur, GA as part of a landmark town-gown partnership with the City of Decatur. Their work is at the heart of a nationally recognized Climate Resilience Plan that earned Agnes Scott the prestigious Second Nature Climate Luminary Honors, one of six institutions in the country to receive this distinction.

This is what it looks like when women's college students lead with purpose. 🌿

A Town-Gown Partnership Focused on Climate Resilience As climate change spurs extreme heat waves and flooding in Georgia, Agnes Scott College and the city of Decatur are working together to forge solutions. “This isn’t something a city can do alone,” one official said.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose vision for justice was deeply rooted in the power of education. As we reflect on his legacy, we are reminded that education remains one of the most powerful tools for advancing equity, opportunity, and social change. Honoring Dr. King means recommitting ourselves to educational systems that foster critical thinking, compassion, and a commitment to the common good.
