A Community Service Commission program since 1991, Alternative Breaks aims to redefine the stereotypical college spring break.

Alternative Breaks at UCLA is a program within the Community Service Commission which sends small groups of UCLA undergraduate students to outside communities within the United States to engage in meaningful service during their academic year breaks. Students perform short term projects for community agencies and learn about issues facing those communities. Being immersed in diverse environments enables participants to experience, discuss, and understand social issues in a significant way.
