On November 6th, 2021, a group of our physics students went canvassing in South LA. The goal was to reach out to the communities served by SCOPE (a grassroots community organizing group and an established community partner of Oxy's) and ask them what their concerns are related to climate change. 🌱

Last week, Oxy's students staff and faculty witnessed a graupel storm outside of the Hameetman Science Center!
Graupel (German pronunciation: [ˈɡʁaʊpəl]; Enɡlish: [ˈgɹaʊpəl]), also called soft hail or snow pellets, is precipitation that forms when supercooled water droplets are collected and freeze on falling snowflakes, forming 2–5 mm (0.08–0.20 in) balls of rime.
