Khi Trí Tuệ Nhân Tạo Gặp Tinh Hoa Phố Wall – Một Kỷ Nguyên Đầu Tư Mới Bắt Đầu
⭐⭐⭐

TEACHING ENGLISH TO KIDS WITH MILD AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER IN HANOI
Teaching ESL to young kids with mild autism spectrum disorder in Hanoi could be the greatest challenge even to a seasoned ESL teacher! But by taking one step at a time plus lots of patience, creativity and perseverence -- and especially having the right TA, WE are making it!

A 2-HOUR "SPEED READING" LESSON COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE -- A REFLECTION FROM A STUDENT
--Khanh Linh, a graduate of Phan Dinh Phung high school who will go to Centre College (Danville, Kentucky, USA) in August for her university education, took a special 2-hour TOEFL Reading class with me just about 10 days before her TOEFL iBT exam. Below is her reflection on how my short “speed reading” course has benefited her.
Linh, Congratulations! I'm so proud of you! :-)
----------
“I met Mr. Lam when I had only one and a half week till my second and also my last TOEFL’s test time. I was seriously worried and nervous. Unlike Mr. Lam’s other students who were good at reading, I was better at writing. Therefore, I really wanted to improve my reading score.
When we met each other at my dad’s office, he gave me few pages of an article to test my understanding and reading skills. In 3 minutes, I tried to read as fast as possible by scanning and skimming. I also used the highlight pen to mark the important lines. I seriously made an attempt to read through the article, so the speed was okay. However, the information I received was extremely little. I was aware that even though my speed was “fast”, I barely remembered some small details or what I just scanned.
After that, Mr. Lam gave me “TOEFL Reading Flash” book and another textbook on “speed reading” methods. He also instructed and showed me some techniques to improve my reading skills. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of gaining background knowledge of some familiar topics of TOEFL. He advised me to spend time practice reading in order to achieve great result.
Every day, I read short paragraphs in the” TOEFL Reading Flash” book to gain information and improve my speed. Mr. Lam advised me to scan through the passages once before reading the questions. However, since I got used to reading the questions first, and the time I spent on practicing the new skill was limited, I came up with the idea that I could combine these two methods. I applied the technique of reading and analyzing the questions first with facts and reference type, for example. With summary or table question type, I could use the speed reading skills to scan and skim information. As a result, after one week studying really hard, I increased 2 scores from the previous TOEFL reading score.
I think the keys here were not only your effort but also your method. Sometimes we have to have flexibility. People say that “Practice makes perfect”, but actually, “perfect practice makes perfect”. You can’t see the improvement of yourself if you keep going on the trail. I strongly recommend you guys to take part in his TOEFL’s class. I think the benefits that you have will not only be the high and satisfying TOEFL scores but also the necessary and essential skills that will help you to deal with massive readings at universities in the USA.”

QUANTUM ENGLISH
-- The term “Quantum English” refers to special ESL classes that are taught by Richard Lam using “quantum learning” or “accelerative learning” (QL/AL) curriculum and methods.
These courses are designed to serve the second language acquisition needs of mainly overseas-bound high school and college students who need a fast track to increase their English proficiency in all four skills --listening, speaking, reading and writing.
The Quantum English program is also applicable to a lot of “false beginners” in Asia and Vietnam, that is those who have studied English for many years, but whenever they meet a foreigner they could not carry out a good English conversation.
With “Quantum English”, effective listening, fluency in speaking plus clear, correct pronunciation can be practically achievable by these learners in about six months, provided that they diligently learn and practice English on a daily basis.
AL/QL methods are rooted from the 1978 UNESCO-recommended learning science of “Suggestopedia” that was originally created by Professor Doctor Georgi Lazanov in the early ‘70’s. After over 30 years of development, Dr. Lybian Labiosa of International Center for Accelerative Learning [ICAL] (www.center4al.com) and Bobbi DePorter of Quantum Learning Network [QLN] (www.qln.com), the two reputable protégés of Dr. Lazanov, have successfully developed and implemented these unique learning and teaching methods in many countries around the world.
Richard Lam (MBA, TESOL) is an international ESL teacher and an expert Quantum English tutor who has been teaching ESL since 2001 in four countries (the U.S., Thailand, Vietnam and China). Richard had also worked as ICAL’s international training consultant in Asia-Pacific between 2013 and 2014.
