We welcome all USC students to join us for the sixth annual East Asia Career Panel as part of USC Career Fest 2018. EASC panelists will discuss how they utilized their East Asian languages and area studies skills in their careers. They come from East Asia-related professions in global marketing, advertising and design, social media, foreign affairs and international trade and commerce. The panel will be followed by a Q&A and networking opportunity.

The second annual Interdisciplinary Symposium on East Asian Business will take place on February 9. The theme for 2018 is “Space and Place," which is interpreted broadly. Presentations include the role of business in everything from real estate development to city planning and in defining spaces for consumption, social activity and politics. The two panels will focus on resource utilization and the Chinese real estate markets. FLYER
Scholarship Opportunity
Applications for the Japanese Government (MEXT*) one-year Japanese Studies Students Scholarship – for deepening understanding of Japanese language and culture – are now available. Benefits of this full scholarship include: transportation to and from Japan, tuition and a living stipend of ¥117,000/month. Recipients study in Japanese at a Japanese university. Applicants select a specific course (language or culture) and three preferred universities from an official Course Guide; final placement is determined by MEXT. Knowledge of Japanese; must have studied Japanese at university at least one year by April 1, 2018. Filing deadline for those applying through the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles is Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. For more information and and application forms, please visit the website.

U-SEA is hosting its 1st annual career panel featuring faculty, alumni, and Ph.D candidates from the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures on Tuesday, 4/18 at 8PM in VKC 155. Panelists will discuss the postgraduate academic and professional career paths for EALC majors/minors and those who wish to pursue an career in East Asia.
