In each session a panel of expert speakers and school, district, and state-level practitioners will present data and experiences to support you to take action now to build out the supports needed to get more students learning outside more of the time. Across all sessions information will be shared to center equity and support funding strategies as well as allow time for questions and discussion. Parks provide so many benefits to communities, but not everyone has equal access to these spaces. In LA, transforming already existing Los Angeles Unified School District schoolyards into vibrant green spaces would bring over 1 million Angelenos to within a 10-min walk of a park.

Dear Educators,
Our ninth session is coming up next Saturday, April 9th from 9am-noon on Seed Saving. Seed saving is a perfect way to end the school year. Your winter and spring crops should be going to seed so gathering them up gives everyone something to look forward to: planting home-grown seeds in the fall! Saving seeds is also a great way to save money on garden expenses. Seed saving is a time honored practice and means of preserving both genetic and cultural diversity. Participants will learn a little bit about plant genetics and some simple methods for cleaning and storing seeds for future planting. We’ll discuss the easiest plants to save seeds from and how to use this in the classroom. Math, science, social studies and language arts are all tied in to this sustainable practice.
Please let me know by next Wednesday, April 6th, whether or not you plan to attend. I will send out another registration reminder next week.
Cheers,
Courtney
