UCLA Gender Studies Senior, Pamela Gwen Ramos a.k.a Mango Gwen is honored to invite y’all to BULYO NING YATU, a fundraiser to provide earthquake relief and rehabilitation to victims of the recent 6.3, 6.4, 6.5 and 6.9-magnitude earthquakes that erupted in Cotabato in Mindanao, Philippines. In Kapampangan, “bulyo ning yatu” translates to “Screams of the Earth.”

I urge us to build unity on the faultlines and frontlines. The lands of Cotabato are screaming in tectonic combustions. To answer our land’s outcry, I call us into battle. Together. Let us weave together our talents, skills, resources, and diverse experiences. All proceeds will go to ’s upcoming earthquake relief missions in affected areas.

LIYANG NETWORK MINDANAO EARTHQUAKE UPDATES!

Sending so much gratitude to folx donating relief funds to the earthquake victims of Mindanao. Thanks to your transnational solidarity and efforts, we have fundraised $1,326. The donations have gone towards providing relief to individuals and families in to Tulunan, Kidapwanan, Digos, Makilala, and Magsaysay in Cotabato, Mindanao. However, the effects of Mindanao’s 6.3, 6.5, and 6.6-magnitude earthquakes and landslides continue to devastate communities.
As of November 12, 261,700+ people were affected, 24 were killed, over 562 were injured, and 36,000+ houses have been destroyed. 1,398 schools in Mindanao have catastrophically crumbled. MISFI Academy in North Cotabato, an alternative, community-based Lumad school already facing militarization and government attacks, is among the affected schools.
The education of millions of children is in danger. Shaken up and fearful students refuse to attend class in Mindanao’s makeshift learning facilities in tents and Lumad (indigenous) schools and evacuation centers.

Victims are starving, dehydrated, and struggling with PTSD and depression. Folx refuse to sleep inside their rooms, sleeping in tents and common areas of evacuation centers so they can easily run if more earthquakes transpire. Anxious folx struggle to recover, riddled with fear and uncertainty of unpredictable earthquakes.

Lumad communities and Sabokahan politically choose to evacuate their homes to protest the militarization and human rights violations of their communities. The Mindanao human-induced earthquakes caused 109,800+ to evacuate- desecrating victims, forcing them to evacuate without a choice. @ Mindanao, Philippines

LIYANG NETWORK: URGENT CALL FOR EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUNDS!

Between October 16 and 31st, 6.3, 6.5, and 6.6-magnitude earthquakes struck Cotabato in Mindanao, Philippines. We must weave together our talents, skills, resources, and diverse experiences to provide earthquake relief to victims.

Mindanao has 1.3 trillion mineral resources. Mindanao’s abundance of silver, nickel, iron, gold, copper, chrome, limestone, and more constructs the island as the “Mining Capital of Asia.” Mining and dams produce the deadliest earthquakes and highest number of human-induced earthquakes worldwide.

Reservoir-induced seismicity (RIS) and the drilling of earth in Mindanao ignites tectonic strain, catalyzing earthquakes. Multinational extractive industries mine and build dams and railways in Mindanao, displacing and killing its local people.

In the barangay Makilala alone, the earthquakes destroyed all of the 357 households. Misfi Academy, a LUMAD school in North Cotabato already facing militarization and government attacks- tragically collapsed.

As of November 5, the earthquakes affected 231,200+ people, killed 21+ folx, injured 421+ people, caused 36,100+ to evacuate, and destroyed 22,279+ houses and 1,075+ schools.

The Philippine Department of Education declared it will take one year to rebuild public infrastructures.

Liyang Network urges us to build unity on the faultlines and frontlines.

Our Earth is screaming in tectonic combustions.

We must passionately support the self determination of Lumad land defenders protecting their ancestral lands through environmental justice.

Provide support and solidarity by donating earthquake relief funds to feed and provide medical support to Tulunan, Kidapwanan, Digos, Makilala, and Magsaysay in Cotabato, Mindanao.

Venmo or Paypal: paypal.me/sabokahan and add the note “Earthquake Relief.”
