We teach, research, and provide consulting since 1998. And we teach graduate statistics to 1000 students, including about 100 enrolled in our own M.S. and Ph.D.

Each year we teach undergraduate statistics to 4000 students from many departments, including about 200 who are our own majors and minors. programs. Our research on vision, environment, computing, genetics, teaching, art, and learning is organized in eight centers.

DataFest 2019 Mentor Sign-Up Form 04/02/2019

UCLA Dep't of Statistics is hoping to get more mentors for this weekend’s DataFest! Please read information below.

DataFest is a 48 hour data analytics hackathon that will be held at UCLA on April 5-7, 2019. At this event, teams of students from the Engineering and Statistics departments, using various software tools, are presented with large, sample datasets from a participating organization and are asked to analyze them to discover interesting insights and present results. Professionals like yourself, can participate in this event by either being a mentor or a judge. As a mentor, professionals will have the opportunity to help students during the event as well as network with students with highly qualitative backgrounds. As a judge, professionals would critique students' presentations regarding their data insights, which would be presented at the end of the event.
