Created in the late 1970s by the California legislature, the COEH and its faculty have a mandate to respond to environmental and occupational health issues that impact the residents of California. The COEH also provides students with training and opportunities for research in environmental and occupational health including environmental health sciences, epidemiology, nursing and medicine.

To be eligible, you must be 18+ years old and have lived in an evacuation zone (mandatory or warning) during the Palisades or Eaton fires.

"Newsom also signed Assembly Bill 1643, which creates an advisory committee on the effects of extreme heat on California’s workers, businesses and economy, and Assembly Bill 2420, which requires state health officials to provide recommendations to protect pregnant workers outdoors and to assess the effects of extreme heat on perinatal health."
California set to be first state with extreme heat warning system under bills signed by Newsom As California swelters, the governor signed a package of bills aimed at protecting the state from extreme heat.
