UCLA-led climate projects receive $7.5 million in state-funded grants from UC Efforts will aim to boost EV use, energy storage, firefighter safety and the well-being of migrant workers.

"Newsom also signed Assembly Bill 1643, which creates an advisory committee on the effects of extreme heat on California’s workers, businesses and economy, and Assembly Bill 2420, which requires state health officials to provide recommendations to protect pregnant workers outdoors and to assess the effects of extreme heat on perinatal health."

California set to be first state with extreme heat warning system under bills signed by Newsom As California swelters, the governor signed a package of bills aimed at protecting the state from extreme heat.
