This weekend’s A Better Self for a Better World (BSBW) Conference brought middle school girls from across Los Angeles to Marymount for a student-led day of friendship, confidence, leadership, and service.
With this year’s theme, “Tune Into Your True Self,” participants made affirmation bracelets, discussed healthy friendship and boundaries, danced their way into lunch, and completed service projects supporting Alexandria House and Operation Teddy Bear.
And most of all, they were reminded that leadership does not have to wait. It begins now — in the way we listen, include, serve, and help others feel seen.
To Marymount’s BSBW student executive team: thank you for planning an amazingly unforgettable event; and to all our BSBW girls: Keep tuning into your true self. The world needs what you have to offer!

With Reunion less than a week away, we’re taking a stroll down memory lane with a few favorite photos from years past.
We can’t wait to welcome our Sailors back to campus this Saturday as we celebrate classes ending in 1 and 6.
Will we see you there?

There are some days that feel impossible to capture in just one post: the joy, the tears, the hugs, the flowers, the proud families, the final photos (and TikToks) with friends, and that unmistakable feeling of a chapter closing while something new and beautiful begins. That was last week for us…
Class of 2026, your Graduation was a celebration of all you have become and all you are carrying with you into the world. You, graduates, will make a difference in our world, and with that, you leave behind laughter in our hallways, pride in our traditions, and a legacy of warmth, spirit, and sisterhood that will stay with Marymount indefinitely.
And because one (or two!) posts could never hold all the joy of this day, there’s still more to come.

Turns out, the students aren’t the only ones who know how to have fun…
Our end-of-year faculty and staff luncheon was filled with laughter, photo booth moments, claw machine victories, and plenty of Sailor spirit. Sr. Margaret winning big at the claw machine was, without question, a moment we’ll all be taking with us into summer break.
We also paused to celebrate colleagues who will not be returning next year, including our beloved retirees: Jae Perez, after 33 years at Marymount; Delia Patino, after 32 years; Dominique Abensour, after 30 years; Valerie Dykeman, after 25 years; Vinh Pham, after 22 years (not pictured); and Polly Kim, after 2 years at Marymount and more than 30 years in education. We are so grateful for the joy, care, and dedication they have shared with Marymount.
A well-deserved sendoff for amazing colleagues, mentors, and friends! 💙

On the morning before the Class of 2026 walked across the commencement stage, our seniors gathered with their families for one final Mass as Marymount students—a quiet and meaningful pause before the celebration, emotion, and joy of Graduation Day.
Surrounded by loved ones who helped carry them to this moment, our graduates were reminded that no one arrives at a milestone like this alone. Behind each diploma is a family’s love, sacrifice, encouragement, and steady belief.
In his homily, Fr. Mark Villano reminded the Class of 2026 to enter this new season with openness, gratitude, and trust: to remain open to new perspectives, to remember the power they have in choosing their attitude, and to look to the Spirit for guidance through every season of life.
As we look back on that morning, we are reminded of what made this class so special: their friendships, their faith, their courage, and the joy they brought to Marymount. May they carry all of it with them wherever they go next.

From their first days as Sailors to their final walk across the graduation stage, this class has left a mark on Marymount that will not soon be forgotten. They have led with heart, shown up for one another, brought joy to campus, and reminded us again and again what it means to belong to something bigger than yourself.
As they step into all that comes next, we could not be prouder of the young women they have become: thoughtful, courageous, curious, compassionate, and ready to meet the world with purpose.
Class of 2026, you will always have a home at Marymount. We are cheering you on today and always! And don’t worry, this is just the first round of photos!

And for our final Senior Spotlight of the Class of 2026: our fearless leader, Avery F. ’26
Since the moment she arrived at Marymount, Avery has led with spirit and an incredible ability to bring people together. Whether competing on the soccer field, serving the greater Los Angeles community through Service Board, or leading the student body as ASB President, she has approached every role with enthusiasm and genuine pride for this community. Avery has been at the center of so many moments that defined this year, helping create the kind of joyful and connected community people will remember long after graduation. She leads in a way that inspires people to show up not just for themselves, but for each other—and that is a rare gift. Congratulations, Avery!
Over the last several weeks, our Senior Spotlights have celebrated just some of the many stories, talents, and voices that make up the extraordinary Class of 2026. But tomorrow, the spotlight belongs to the class as a whole as they walk across the stage at Graduation.

In our penultimate Senior Spotlight for the Class of 2026: Reese J. ’26!
Whether leading on the basketball court as Team Captain for the last three years, welcoming future Sailors as a Silver Ambassador, supporting her classmates through Retreat Team, or bringing humor and spirit to the Senior Class as Class Vice President, Reese has spent the last four years pouring energy and heart into every corner of campus life. She is the kind of person who makes people feel included simply by being herself and Marymount won’t quite feel the same without her next year but we know Reese’s next chapter will be every bit as vibrant as she is. Congratulations, Reese!

Today, our 9th–11th graders officially closed out the school year the best way possible: streamers in hand, surrounded by best friends, and ready to jump into summer.
Over the course of this year, our Sailors stepped into new challenges, discovered new passions, celebrated both big and small moments, and created the kind of memories that become part of what they’ll always carry from Marymount.
Here’s to a year for the books, a summer well-earned, and the excitement of doing it all again next fall!

Up next in our Senior Spotlights is Madi S. ’26.
From serving as President of the Alliance of Latin American Students, to upholding integrity and accountability through Honor Council, to shaping the artistic voice of campus as Editor-in-Chief of Sunset Literary Magazine, Madi has spent the last four years helping others feel seen, understood, and valued within the Marymount community. Madi has a rare ability to balance leadership with genuine empathy, always creating space for thoughtful conversation and connection. There’s no doubt the same passion and perspective she brought to Marymount will continue to inspire the people lucky enough to know her in the years ahead. Congratulations, Madi!
