I was reading John Shoustra's most recent update on his recovery after the Mountain Fire and one thing he said, in particular, stood out to me. Read in the attachment what he says about mulch. It pretty much reinforces what we (APLD CA) were saying, most specifically Greg Rubin, in the Slow the Burn Symposium about mulch being a good thing to have, not a bad thing. This sort of real, post-fire observation is so important to share with fire and insurance authorities who are making rules and regulations based on much less substantive evidence.

In the continuing saga of my hat…the casual observer would never know what this poor thing has been through. Second photo show what I discovered upon returning from vacation. Some completely and illegally ransacked my suitcase. But this hat is a champ and good thing since they don’t make this one anymore. I bought it at the Arboretum when APLD GLA did their display garden with the tiny house

I’d carried around this little sewing kit in my travel bag for like 25 years without using it. Finally threw it away right before this trip . Now guess what I need!

As we are in the midst of APLD CA’s Slow the Burn Symposium, I thought I would share a fire study I did for a design in progress to see how we are doing with existing plant material and proposed.
