In May, we are welcoming Yumi Kawasaki as the new principal of MSTMA at Roosevelt (). 🎉📣
Principal Kawasaki most recently served as principal of Edwin Markham Middle School. She is a data-driven leader who empowers those around her to use available data to improve her students' educational experience every day. She has been able to align professional learning for educators with the needs of the school and support teams of adults in growing as they work together.
We look forward to all she will accomplish at MSTMA with students, educators, staff, and families.⭐

1 in 7 = roughly 750,000 students being taught by unqualified teachers, disproportionately in high-priority schools. The Golden State Teacher Grant Program has provided financial support to more than 22,000 teacher candidates earning their credentials in exchange for service at a high-priority school. This program needs $100M to maintain its level of impact.
Please prioritize access to qualified educators in this budget process,

This Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, we celebrated the incredible educators and school staff who make a lasting difference in the lives of our students every single day.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who supports student success, from teachers and principals to counselors, campus aides, office staff, and all who keep our schools running with care and dedication.
This week, we showed our appreciation by bringing in a variety of coffee and food vendors across our schools, creating moments to pause, connect, and thank the people who give so much of themselves to our students and communities.
Your commitment, care, and hard work do not go unnoticed. We appreciate you today and every day.🍎💛

Today is National School Principal's Day, and we couldn’t wait to start celebrating our 20 school leaders! 🌟
Yesterday, we gathered for our monthly Principal Leadership Conference, where we deepened our leaders’ understanding of instructional leadership, especially as we continue advancing outcomes for our emergent bilingual students. The dedication to growth and excellence in this space was inspiring!
We also took time to celebrate and uplift our incredible principals with a fun, beach-themed experience complete with special raffle prizes, hot meals, and an ice cream sundae bar 🍦🏖️
To our amazing principals: thank you for your unwavering leadership, your commitment to students, and the positive impact you make every single day. We appreciate you today and every day. Happy National School ! 🎉
