CONGRATULATIONS to CSUN Alum, Kim Miller, who was just announced as the new Principal of Marlton School for the Deaf in LAUSD!

Kim Miller has been with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for over 36 years. She started her career as Sign Language Interpreter and went on to become a Teacher of the Deaf (ToD) for several years. In subsequent years, Kim became Program Specialist, Specialist, Assistant Principal at Marlton and most recently as Coordinator for Low Incidence Programs. She will start as Principal for Marlton School for the Deaf on July 1st. Congratulations, Kim!

The annual VSA Intersections: Arts and Special Education Conference is coming to Irvine, CA this fall and is offering its first-ever day long workshop specifically for educators and administrators supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students! “Promoting Equity at the Intersection of Deaf Education and the Arts” is a celebration of Deaf culture and artistic excellence, a hands-on learning session to build instructional capacity, and an opportunity to network across role and geographic in service of D/HH students. Designed, planned, and led by some of the nation’s leading Deaf artists and educators, anyone who works with D/HH students is sure to get something from this exciting event! Educators in attendance also have the opportunity to receive a signed professional development certificate or earn graduate credit for taking part.
