UCLA - James Bridges Theater

07/26/2023

We here at the James Bridges and Darren Star Theaters fully support the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. We've helped shape these creative minds at TFT and believe they should be paid fairly. We wouldn't have the amazing films we share without them! Please support the strike though social media, volunteering or donating to any of the foundations below!

Swing by to enjoy this film from Bruin Film Society!

Bruin Film Society and Melnitz Movies are excited to announce a special AAPI Month + Pride Month screening of Searchlight Picture's FIRE ISLAND! A fiery reimagining of the classic Jane Austen novel PRIDE & PREJUDICE from DRIVEWAYS director Andrew Ahn and comedians Joel Kim Booster and Bowen Yang, FIRE ISLAND has received rave reviews from outlets such as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition, we are proud to announce that we're partnering with OutWRITE News Magazine as an official partner on this screening! Established in 1979, OutWRITE News Magazine is UCLA's official q***r newsmagazine, dedicated to challenging dominant narratives and advocating for and educating people on q***r issues. Their website can be found here.

Synopsis: A group of q***r best friends gather in the Fire Island Pines for their annual week of love and laughter, but when a sudden change of events jeopardizes their summer in gay paradise, their bonds as a chosen family are pushed to the limit.

Priority will be given to UCLA Students. Eventbrite RSVP DOES NOT GUARANTEE admission so please arrive early.
