In this time we are living in, bringing my music and movement program to 15 schools and hundreds of children per week- as I used to prior to the pandemic- is not a possibility. I miss the children so much and have hope that over time epidemiologists, physicians, and public health experts will help us find a way to be together again in the classroom, safely. However, I am able to take my many years of experience and connect with young children through the joys of making music via my on-line classes. No, it is not the same as being in the classroom and on-line learning is not for every young child. Yet, for many children, new ways of connecting have been forged and we are able to have a wonderful time singing, dancing, telling stories, giggling and bonding though music and movement. The experience has been a moving one for me and I am so grateful to have the opportunity each day. Started in 2012, Music with Max combines my experience as a teacher in the preschool classroom (15 years), my degree in early childhood development from Pacific Oaks College, and my formal music education to provide young children with a fun, nurturing, creative, and educational music experience. My curriculum is centered around 5 different areas of development: Music Theory, Fine/Gross motor, Language/Literacy, Math, and Social/Emotional. My background in child development means I'm able to provide children ages 6 months to 7 years with developmentally appropriate activities that both support their present knowledge while seeking to expand and help them grow.
