LAUSD education workers showed up and spoke out. ✊💜

At today’s Board meeting, members made it clear: we are not expendable.

Workers called on LAUSD to restore unlawfully laid-off restricted workers and stop balancing its budget on the backs of the frontline workers who keep our schools running.

We won’t be silent. We won’t be ignored. And we’re not done fighting. LAUSD, make it right.

Child care providers across California are fighting for pay increases and the passing of AB-1981. A long overdue change, this bill will transition California away from an outdated reimbursement system that’s left providers making less than minimum wage.

Providers have been paying 2026 prices while being paid 2018 rates. This can’t go on any longer. Providers are uniting to demand: “Don’t force us to close our doors. Pass AB-1981 NOW!” ✊

We must let Governor Newsom and our state legislators know that we are committed to keeping our doors open.

California’s public schools and community colleges depend on billions in funding that could disappear if Prop 3 doesn’t pass.

Prop 3 does NOT create a new tax. It continues an existing income tax on California’s wealthiest residents and makes that funding for public education permanent.

For education workers, the stakes are real. When schools lose funding, our jobs, hours, staffing, wages, and the services students depend on are put at risk.

🗳️ Vote YES on Prop 3.

✊ Protect our funding. Protect our jobs. Protect our schools.

Welcome back, LAUSD education workers! 💜💛

We’re starting this school year with real victories taking effect — higher wages, more hours, expanded healthcare access, stronger job protections, and protections against subcontracting. We won them because members organized, took action, and stood together.

But our work isn’t over. LAUSD continues to push layoffs, furloughs, and cutbacks while billions remain in reserves, and we’re gearing up for the fights ahead to protect our jobs, schools, and communities.

And we know the question on everyone’s mind: retro pay. LAUSD previously committed to issuing retroactive pay in August. The District now says most SEIU Local 99 members will receive their retroactive payment September 8. These are wages members already earned, and LAUSD is responsible for getting them into members’ hands.

Swipe through for what you need to know — and get ready for another year of standing together and winning together. ✊🏽
