SEIU Local 99 members are proud to endorse Anthony Rendon for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. We need leaders who don't just talk about justice, they fight alongside us for it.
From raising the minimum wage to ensuring no student goes hungry, he stands with working families, not corporate power.
Check out this video from last October where Mr. Rendon spent a shift with SEIU Local 99 member and LAUSD Food Service Worker Tinesha Wirt to not only learn what it takes to feed hundreds of hungry students every day, and the rewards and challenges of the job, but also the issues many classified employees face working at LAUSD.
On election day, June 2nd, let's elect a true champion for education workers for State Superintendent of Public Instruction!

📸 Members holding up just $1.50 — that’s the District’s total proposed raise over 3 years on average.
In the recent negotiation session on May 28th, Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) came with the same offer again!
Members jokingly show how minimal the increase is that it doesn’t even keep up with inflation and rising costs! The District’s current proposal leaves many members stuck in part-time status without healthcare access, and falls far short of what members deserve.
Together, we’re standing united and ready to keep fighting for a fair contract with living wages, more hours, and expanded benefits.
Our unity is our strength, and the fight continues. Stay tuned for more updates by visiting the workplace page at seiu99.org/smmusd
When we fight, we win. 💪

LAUSD may have voted to approve layoffs, but our fight is far from over.
SEIU Local 99 members have been showing up outside the district offices of Board Members who voted to cut essential school workers, making it clear that these layoffs will hurt students, families, and school communities across Los Angeles.
We refuse to accept a future where schools lose the workers who keep them running every day.
✊ Stop the layoffs.🏫 Protect our schools.💜 Stand with workers and students.

The cost of gas, groceries, rent is all going up. But California doesn’t pay child care providers anywhere near what it costs to provide care. Providers like Mayra Todd are calling on state legislators to invest in higher pay that reflects the true cost of care. Back on March 9, Mayor Karen Bass sat down with SEIU Local 99 members and made one thing clear: she’s standing with the workers who keep our schools running. 💜
During our town hall, Mayor Bass spoke directly to members about why SEIU Local 99 can count on her — because she understands the importance of investing in the people who support students every single day.
Now it’s our turn to show up for her. ✊🏽
Join us this weekend as we hit the doors to help re-elect Mayor Bass and continue building power for working people across Los Angeles.

Picket Recap: MAOF Workers Stand United!
Yesterday, teachers, custodians, office staff, and early education workers at the Mexican-American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) turned out strong on the picket line demanding respect and wages above poverty.
SEIU Local 99 members at MAOF provide the care and education our community’s children deserve — now we’re fighting for fair pay, longevity increases, and a contract that values our work.
The pressure stays on until management delivers a fair deal. We’re not backing down.

SEIU Local 99 members took a turnaround trip to Bakersfield this weekend to hit the doors and talk with voters about the power of working people standing together. ✊🏽
We were proud to support Ana Palacio for State Assembly District 35 and Jasmeet Bains for Congress — candidates who understand the importance of protecting workers, public services, and our communities.
After our victory on Prop 50 to protect fair representation in our congressional districts, we’re building on that momentum by electing leaders who will fight for working people — which is why electing leaders like Jasmeet Bains to Congress matters so much. 💜
From LA to Bakersfield, union members are showing up and putting in the work because making our voices heard matters.
