As Art and I were driving along 405 today to bring my Mom in law back to Santa Monica, I saw lots of cars on the road already. As we exited the busy street of Lincoln Ave., I saw an array of food houses with long lines of people waiting to get in and get services from the establishments. That was about 3pm and I whispered to myself, wow, people are really going back to eating out and the road is slowly going back to its normal busy and traffic phase. I am not sure if I will be happy about this as I really wish and pray for our hospitality folks to get back to work and start its recovery.

Deep inside though, my thought is half heartedly divided between being optimistic and at the same time cautious and worried to death about the possibility of having another rounds of the Virus spread to the industry. I really hope that majority of the people in there are all vaccinated and that we are reaching the stage of herd immunity in our community.🙏🙏🙏

For 28 years 80-year-old businessman Harris Rosen has provided an Orlando neighborhood Tangelo Park: free preschool, a parent resource center and has covered college tuition, room, board, expenses for all its residents. While he owns 8 hotels and has a college named after him, he is most proud of his philanthropic work which has impacted hundreds. Are hospitality staff considered essential workers? In the case of vaccine roll out and in the listing of priority group to take vaccine, are hospitality employees included at the frontline or being tossed to the back? Food and shelter, two major product and services being provided by this industry are considered as human basic needs.
