To augment and align the lessons in the classroom with the entrepreneurial, creative, and collaborative rigor of film making and 21st century skills.

We use filmmaking as a means for learning.

Diplomatic and mindful communication isn’t just “being nice”—it’s a core learning skill that directly impacts how a student thinks, learns, collaborates, and succeeds in school and beyond. When students develop this skill, they’re essentially strengthening their academic fluency, social awareness, and decision-making ability all at once.

“Prompting,” is just writing with intention. Writing forces you to: define your goal, structure your ideas, and clarify your intent. Learning to write well isn’t becoming less important in the age of AI—it’s becoming more powerful and more strategic. For an AI user, writing is no longer just about expression… it’s about thinking, directing, refining, and building outcomes. These film students at the Pomona Unified School District ‘s TLC Film Academies programs will be well prepared to not just use AI, but to direct it.

Today students from Duarte Unified School District were invited to attend a private reading by Goethe-Institut Los Angeles as part of their “On the Road” program.

“Words, reflections, and encounters: Two German writers, Louise Kenn and Mücahit Türk, set out across the United States, meeting people from all walks of life and chronicling their encounters in an online travel blog. Through this remarkable journey, they hope to reimagine the transatlantic relationship for a new generation and strengthen the literary dialogue between Germany and the United States.”

Our work is focused, "Create Creators." Our guiding motto, "Learning to Learn Together," is designed to create an environment of inclusiveness, responsibility, rigor, connection, and community. We are deeply grateful and humbled to be recognized for our collaboration at Centralia Elementary School District as Partners in Educational Excellence by the Association of California School Administrators Region 17. The focus of Creating Creators has always been to support the literacy development of students through the opportunities that filmmaking provides as a tool for active literacy. As we continue our journey to be a true partner in education, this recognition is deeply felt by all of the teaching artists who continue to grow and expand their skillsets to best provide guidance and develop competence and confidence in the students and educators we are lucky to collaborate and partner with. We are deeply grateful for the support and guidance from our partners at Centralia Elementary School District, and the Association of California School Administrators Region 17 Superintendent of the Year, Norma E. Martinez.

We’re proud to celebrate Creating Creators for receiving the ACSA Region 17 Partners in Educational Excellence Award!

Through our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program, students step into roles as writers, directors, editors and producers — building creativity, confidence and real-world skills.

We’re not just teaching students. We’re creating creators.

Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality." — Warren Bennis
In order to support media production for their basketball tournament Centralia Elementary School District turned to their Film Academies. We asked a 6th grader from Dysinger to organize a production team. This moment happened without any guidance. This is her 3rd year studying film.

Workforce development helps students discover who they are, build real skills, and leave high school ready for work, college, and life. This commercial promo production for Duarte Unified School District is a real workplace, not a simulation—and apprentices learn fastest when the stakes, standards, and collaboration are real.
