On this episode of “Looks like s**t, tastes legit”

Chicken breast fajita bowl

Cut up chicken into chunks (I used 3lbs) - cut whatever size you like. Throw oil in a pan and toss in chicken.

Cook through and add your level of taco seasoning. Stirring until coated evenly. Im a heavy seasoner so I did the whole packet for 3lbs of chicken breast.

Heat a pan over high heat and turn your vent on high because it’s about to get steamy.

Julienne your veggies (just cut them into thin strips).

Add a little avocado or olive oil to that hot as hell pan and add your veggies. Let them just sit and get all charred for 5 minutes.

Open the can of beans of your choice (if you’re cooking your beans from scratch, more power to you 👊🏼). Add to microwave safe bowl and zap that s**t. If you’re weary of microwaves 👽 put them in a pot and heat them.

You can microwave a rice packet, or cook it ahead of time. Doesn’t matter to the finished product.

Grab a bowl, dish out a cup of rice, half cup of beans, 4-6oz of chicken, every veggie you can get your hands on and like 1/4 cup of salsa. Top off with cilantro, a few tortilla strips, and salt and enjoy.

Can you really ever have enough pancakes?

This high protein variety will keep you full through the morning and your workout.

Top with your favorite berry, or change up your protein flavor to keep things interesting. Because variety is the spice of life.

There’s almost no excuse to not eat breakfast when it’s this easy to make.

Let’s explore what carb cycling is and what it isn’t. Also, I’ll explain what goals you can achieve using carb cycling, as well as if you can use carb cycling with different types of diets.

10/21/2021

Short answer: No.

Why?

Because carb cycling isn’t a diet. It’s a framework, even a lifestyle.

Carb cycling at its core is just fluctuating high and low carb days in a way that allows us to use body fat for energy, and maintain and even build muscle.

Most “diets” (Paleo, balanced, vegetarian, Vegan) can work within the carb cycling framework with no problem and can achieve their health, aesthetic, and fitness goals.

I’m lactose intolerant, just like so many people are. So much so that I can’t eat yogurt.

So grabbing snacks or breakfasts that aren’t eggs or cooked food can be tough.

I recently saw had a higher protein yogurt, vs the usual non-dairy yogurt that hardly has any protein.

I threw some toasted coconut, cocoa nibs, and pecans in for a little more nutrients and calories.

If you’re lactose intolerant, vegan, (or not) I’d highly recommend trying this! Also, this is not an ad. I just love this stuff.

Is carb cycling a low carb diet?

The short answer is no. Because when you average out your daily carbohydrates for the week they will be much higher than a ketogenic diet which is considered a low carbohydrate diet.

The average American eats over 300 g of carbohydrates a day which is just not necessary. Carbs give is quick burst energy for things like sprinting and working out intensely (think CrossFit not walking). When these go unused by the body and our glycogen stores in the muscles are filled, our body stores these carbs as body fat.

When I carb cycle to cut weight, which means Im in a caloric deficit, I STILL get 130 g of carbohydrates a day (that’s 520 calories worth of quick burst energy - definitely enough). That’s plenty of wiggle room to continue to eat bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, beans, and basically any other carb you can think of in moderation.

So no, carb cycling isn’t a “low carb” diet.

No need to wait for a high carb day for these…

A slight tang will come through with the cottage cheese that pairs nicely with your favorite berry!

If you’re wanting a little extra protein feel free to mix your favorite powder in. I usually go with a simple chocolate or vanilla.

I also usually batch a bunch of these out to have extra in the fridge for a higher protein snack when I’m working all day.

What is one “go to” snack that helps you get through any day? Leave your suggestion below!
