Students at South East High School had the opportunity to learn about careers in Public Safety through a special guest speaker presentation featuring Dr. Robyn Parks, a Medical Examiner with Los Angeles County.

Dr. Parks shared insights from her professional experience and gave students a closer look at the medical examiner field and the many career possibilities within Public Safety.

The first week of school was BUSY across the Los Angeles Unified School District and Superintendent Andres Chait was on the move! 🎒🏫

One of his many stops was Belvedere Middle School, where students are getting an early look at what their futures could hold through a Paxton/Patterson Labs Career Lab.

Belvedere is one of more than 50 LAUSD schools with these innovative labs, where students can explore careers through hands-on workstations all in one place, from medical and construction to culinary arts and beyond. 🔬🔨👩‍🍳

⚡ CTE PowerUp 2026: Building Connections. Sharing Strategies, Powering Up Instruction.

More than 100 Los Angeles Unified School District CTE teachers and staff gathered at Grand Arts - Ramon C Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts for two days of professional learning, collaboration, and inspiration during CTE PowerUp 2026.

Participants heard an inspiring keynote presentation by Apple Learning and Leadership Executive Marco Antonio Torres, engaged in interactive breakout sessions, explored LAUSD Division of Instruction priorities, and exchanged innovative strategies to strengthen CTE classrooms across LAUSD.

The event also provided valuable opportunities to network with colleagues and connect with industry partners committed to supporting student success.

🎉 Congratulations to Damian J. from Bravo Medical Magnet and Gabriel L. from Garfield High School!

These outstanding students were selected as 2 of only 24 Los Angeles County public school students to participate in the prestigious 2026 Samuels Family LA-HIP Internship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. After seven weeks of hands-on research alongside faculty scientists at The Saban Research Institute, they proudly presented their research at the LA-HIP Research Symposium!

Today, we had the opportunity to celebrate the culmination of an incredible summer internship experience as Los Angeles Unified School District CTE-Linked Learning student interns Ricky H. and Andy H. from School of Business and Tourism presented what they learned through their internship with the LAUSD Eco-Sustainability Office.

Throughout the summer, Ricky and Andy gained firsthand experience exploring careers in sustainability, clean technology, and environmental stewardship. Their presentations reflected not only the technical knowledge they developed, but also the confidence, professionalism, and passion they built through authentic workplace learning.

From visiting the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and the LADWP La Kretz Innovation Campus to learning from industry professionals and collaborating with the Eco-Sustainability Office, these students experienced how classroom learning can translate into meaningful careers that make a positive impact on our communities.

A huge thank you to the Eco-Sustainability Office team for their continued partnership and commitment to creating real-world learning opportunities that inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.

🧬 The BioscienceLA & Amgen Sparks Camp is in full swing!

Students from several school districts, including Los Angeles Unified School District, are diving into two days of hands-on biotechnology experiences. Through interactive labs and industry-led learning, they’re building technical skills, exploring exciting biotech careers, and seeing firsthand how classroom learning connects to real-world opportunities.

Students entering grades 8–12 can still register for the next Bioscience LA & Amgen Sparks Camp on August 6–7 at Pierce College. Spots are limited, so be sure to scan the QR code in the flyer to register!

🏥 Work-Based Learning in Action!

More than 20 Los Angeles Unified School District students are gaining invaluable real-world experience through internships at Adventist Health White Memorial as part of the hospital’s Healthcare Workforce Development Program.

Under the guidance of Alicia Roman, Manager of Volunteer & Workforce Development, students are supporting patients, building professional skills, expanding their networks, and exploring careers in healthcare firsthand.

This week, interns had the exciting opportunity to meet Hospital President Daniel Fontoura and members of the hospital’s leadership team, learning from professionals who are shaping the future of healthcare.

A huge thank you to Adventist Health White Memorial for investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals, and to GPSN for helping create even more internship opportunities for our students.
