Social media allows me to keep up with students. Guy Todd Jr. was one of my first 3rd graders in Watts, CA from Compton Ave Elementary in LAUSD in 1997. He just finished with his Doctorate degree. Don’t sleep on kids from the “hood” you have to stay around long enough to see the fruit from the seeds being planted.

The data says having just one black male teacher in grades 3-5 decreases dropout rates by 39% and increases college interest by 29% especially for Black boys.

California’s schools need strong leaders— that represent students AND teachers— now more than ever. 🧑🏽‍🏫

provides no-cost mentorship, coaching & leadership training for aspiring administrators. By 2027, it will support 367 future school leaders statewide. Continued investment in DELPI will strengthen CA schools!

‼️Nearly 79% of CA students are students of color, but only about 30% of school leaders reflect that diversity.

DELPI is helping build a more representative & culturally responsive leadership pipeline for CA schools.🏫 Support continued funding for DELPI in ’s budget.

Today we celebrated our Future teacher candidates who finished the first step by earning their bachelors degree and overcoming the foster care system. Thanks to our program directors Susaun Wade and Liana Saidah Sims for the tireless hours they put in to see these young adults thrive in life.

TVI Rise is our 6 year pathway into the classroom starting as early as college freshmen. Thanks to our partners at CSUDH Toros Guardian Scholars and CSULB - Upward Bound and Change Reaction
