“Too many of our neighborhoods have carried the burden of industrial pollution for decades,” said Richard Parks, President and Co-founder of Redeemer Community Partnership. “Culver City’s action shows that we don’t have to choose between economic opportunity and community health. By moving toward clean, zero-emissions manufacturing, we can reduce harmful pollution, protect families living nearby, and invest in a future where our communities can truly thrive.”

USC is the largest industrial gas boiler polluter in LA County. Following months of diligent research and preparation, our youth invited LA County Supervisor and South Coast Air Quality Managment District board member Holly Mitchell to discuss the urgent need to protect breathers with zero-emission rules to replace dirty boilers. By their community leadership and love of neighbor our youth set an example for us all to emulate.

Come help plant California native plants with us at the former Jefferson drill site!

Due to the excessive heat warning we’ve decided to push our community planting day back a few hours to 4:30-7pm on Saturday March 14th. We understand that some of you may no longer be able to attend and we apologize for the last minute time change. We want to prioritize the comfort and safety of our community. Hope to see you out there. There will be California native plants, good vibes and pupusas! It will still be warm so please bring a hat and water. Hope to see you.

Moving forward, there are many ways to stay involved. We’ll be sending out information soon about weekly watering to help our garden get established.

Best, Jefferson Test Plot team
1371 W. Jefferson Blvd.

Anand has long been a beloved member of the community. She and her husband built Essencials market into more than a store, it was a welcoming place filled with kindness and familiar smiles. After the heartbreaking loss of her husband, the community surrounded Anand with love and support, giving her the strength to keep going.

So when the RCP youth group asked to paint a mural representing safety, unity and hope, she warmly agreed. Her journey shows that even through deep pain, resilience and community can create something beautiful.
