Our fourth student spoke about their experiences and what's in store for the future here at Portal during our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. We are so excited for another successful year and what's to come!
"At Portal, we have a career connected learning program that allows us to "choose our own adventure". As students, we can identify our interests, hobbies, and passions, and connect them to help identify a career path. For example, in the summer, through Portal, I took Outschool classes in theater acting, improv, and voice acting. This fall, I am exploring more about what I need to do to become an actor. Through the "choose your own adventure" work, I am able to figure out the tools needed for my future in acting." - Anniyah

Four student speakers took the stage at the celebratory Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to start another successful year at Portal. This is what one student had to say:
"I chose Portal because they took a match to the traditional ways high school was done and burnt it to the ground. As a Portal pioneer, I take pride in fueling the flames of change and helping Portal be a model for the rest of the country. I want to look back and tell my kids; you see that Belkin charging pad over there, it brings back a lot of memories." - Milo

During our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the launch of our second year, four student speakers took stage to share their personal experiences.
"When thinking of what it means to be a Portal Student I think of a leader. A leader that isn’t afraid to persevere. You know, when life gets hard you keep on going and don’t look back. Realizing that you have the ability to design your own path. Your own education, career, and future." - Nadia

Portal Schools' celebrated a successful first year and the launch of our second year at our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Four student speakers took stage.
"My mentor, Hugo, and I talk a lot about many different things from business to finance. Last year, Hugo pushed me to research specific fields in business and advertising to expand my learning. And so, as many of you already know, I interviewed Chet Pipkin, the founder of Belkin. I knew I could gain a lot of knowledge from him (and I did). This then led me to interview more business leaders. Since then, I have interviewed employees at SnapChat and have plans to interview the owner of Shopify. I think we can learn so much from other people who have done what we want to do, and that's why I think this collaboration with Portal and Belkin is an outstanding, once in lifetime opportunity!" - Mokai

Having safe spaces to take risks, try new things, and fail are a huge part of learning so students can find their life’s purpose - as individuals, citizens, and members of the global workforce.

We believe the best educational outcomes come from school communities that reflect the rich diversity of Los Angeles, where students and faculty from all walks of life come together to bring their unique strengths, diverse opinions and thoughts, and lived experiences to deepen learning.

We want students to have the utmost confidence in themselves with whatever career path they choose. That's why building the learning experience with them and for them is such an important core belief here at Portal.
