Let’s talk about OXYTOCIN aka THE LOVE HORMONE 💕
Oxytocin is a hormone released by the brain to promote good feelings during labor and also helps soften the cervix to prepare for labor.
If you’re not producing oxytocin then you won’t have any contractions & labor may be delayed.
In other words without oxytocin there is no labor!

Oxytocin helps reduce fear & pain & helps labor flow
To release oxytocin you should feel confident, fearless, relaxed and unobserved
**side note; (laboring uninterrupted/unobserved is very important)**

Oxytocin is usually present during s*x, labor, skin to skin & breastfeeding—with that being said..
Here are some ways to get
OXYTOCIN FLOWING during or right before labor:
💕Cuddling
💕Having s*x
💕Kissing
💕Gentle Touch & Massage
💕Listening to music
💕Dancing & Laughing
💕Meditation
💕Repeating positive affirmations
💕Eating & Drinking as needed
💕Warm water/shower/birth tub
💕Nipple Stimulation
💕Maintaing a calm birth environment
All of these things and more help with making the labor process smoother & easier.
In the simplest of words: oxytocin is responsible for signaling contractions of the womb during labor so without oxytocin there is no baby being born.

🍵 There is a time & place for everything but too often inductions take over pregnancies/labors that they have no business taking over.
🥺Inductions are usually the start to the cascade of intervention
🍵Lots of women feel pressured or coerced into accepting inductions without knowing the full picture
So heres the whole PICTURE :
🍵Inductions are a form of synthetic labor
🍵Inductions are not proven to work all of the time & can even take awhile to start
🍵Inductions can turn otherwise low risk pregnancies into high risk pregnancies
🍵Inductions can make contractions MUCH harder, longer & stronger
🍵Inductions increase the risk of
having a c-section by 30%
🍵Drugs from induction can affect your baby
🍵Pitocin isn’t the only form of “induction” there are gels, membrane sweeping, foley bulb, etc.
Remember you can say no to an induction and you are not required to show up if you have one scheduled.

In the birth space we often hear things like :
“Am I allowed to..” or “Will the Dr. let me…” or “I didn’t know I could say no…”

These words/phrases shouldn’t have a place in your care…
You don’t need permission to change your doctor, to move during labor, to eat or drink during labor, to say NO to something you’re not comfortable with, to say no to unecessary interventions, or to be actively involved in the decision making about the health of YOU & YOUR baby!

You simply DONT need anyone’s permission to do what feels right to you during your pregnancy & labor/delivery.

Your body is your own and you decide what goes and what doesn’t.

Did you know that water is the 🐐 during pregnancy?

I know sometimes it can be hard to drink enough water, especially when it comes to food aversions and cravings but water is essential.
💧
If you have trouble drinking water try adding a squeeze of lime or lemon or even fresh fruits like strawberries to see if it helps you out!
ICE 🧊 is also a great way to up water intake when you don’t feel like drinking it room temperature
