We are proud to kick off the USC Black Alumni Association’s 50th Anniversary Celebration honoring five decades of community, leadership, impact, and Trojan excellence.

This milestone is more than a celebration of our history; it’s a tribute to the generations of Trojans who helped build and strengthen the BAA legacy. We’re looking forward to a year-long celebration filled with special events, storytelling, connection, and opportunities to invest in the next 50 years of BAA.

From serving on the front lines as a U.S. Army combat medic to shaping the future of immersive training

David Cobbins MFA '13 has built a career rooted in service, creativity, and leadership. After earning his master’s in Writing for Film & Television from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, he now serves as a creative producer at USC’s Institute for Creative Technologies.

As project leader for ELITE (Emerging Leader Immersive Training Environment), Cobbins is helping redefine how people learn real-world skills. Through interactive virtual scenarios, AI-driven role-players, and real-time feedback, ELITE empowers users to grow as leaders in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
