STOP THE WARS.

It’s time to make it abundantly clear where Acquire Languages stands in terms of ethics and humanitarian ideals. We unequivocally condemn war that targets civilians (primarily women and children). We do NOT support war crimes that are committed by any nation that involve genocide, calculated murder of protestors, or forcible displacement of people from their homes.

Acquire Languages supports ALL people from ALL cultures and walks of life. No matter where you are from, what you look like, or which language you speak, we will stand with you as people and as humans. At the core of many conflicts around the world are common people, desperate to protect their families and loved ones. Shame on the cold governments, corrupt leaders and politicians, and greed stricken corporations for encouraging and supporting these international conflicts.

There is room for all of us on this planet. We will continue working harder than ever to realize more spaces for cross-cultural community, outreach for refugees, and overall support for those affected by these wars.

Peace to all of our friends, from around the world, and take good care of yourself and your family. Don’t give in to hate, no matter what.

From Language Comes the World

Our story these last two years took place entirely off of social media as we embraced more connection both locally and abroad. It wasn’t easy as the echos of those initial attempts at building something durable and helpful for many still rang with a certain discomfort. Imagine launching onto the scene with such fierce joy and passion, only to be met with relentless financial shortcomings and logistical failures.

For us, after that early rush of force calmed and the momentum that had propelled us forward also began to slow in 2023, it seemed that the truest, most authentic path forward for the company would be to return to its essence. The core values that we were founded on became more important than ever: diversity, culture, language, and at the center–people. We would teach, discover, and travel to many destinations through those next two years, and gradually both abroad and in San Diego, roots began forming–support DID show up in unlikely places. New friends became integrated into the hopeful vision of Acquire Languages, and so through them we began to understand the importance of community.

In Summer 2025 we established a non-profit, community group called Ocean Beach Language Exchange (OBLX) in San Diego, hosting free languages events and promoting cultural exchange. Early on, there was little interest and many events held no attendees, but through the months we grew and grew, eventually to nearly 75 members across both Meetup and NextDoor platforms. It was awesome to see the town begin to open itself to increased engagement and connection through language and culture, which hadn’t previously been so apparent within that area.

There’s no shorthanded recipe for success, no guide to reaching people’s ears or even their hearts, but it seems more than ever that this idea does have a place here. We have grown, maybe not in revenue or modern perspective of social media reach, but we have influenced people’s lives positively, that alone is worth something. We are so proud of that small impact and look forward to steadily and patiently progressing into a bright future.

This month for our episode, we’re exploring the Northern African lands of Morocco (المغرب). We collaborated with , a Moroccan native based in Berrechid to bring you this one, hope you enjoy! ☀️

Morocco’s long history goes back to the people of Berber, some of the oldest known cultures inhabiting Northern African Sahara. These kind and resourceful people have birthed a unique ability to exist peacefully with the elements and inspire many cultural traditions like the Fantasia Festival, among all the Islamic holidays! Morocco identifies itself as the original inhabitants of this region and prides itself with maintaining a significant presence historically and geographically.

Many are attracted to the exquisite taste that Moroccans have for fashion, culinary, and furniture. The vibrancy of spices, handmade jewelry and rug pieces, to fresh foods like dates and apricots bring people from all over the world. These goods and much more can be found in the Medina’s or “Old Town” of each major city. This is just a glimpse of what you can find by visiting this marvelous place.

This month for our episode, we’re taking you through the land of cuisine and flavor, Italy (Italia). We collaborated with .fattii, an Italian native, to bring you this one, hope you enjoy! ☀️

Italy’s focus on modernity, fine cuisine, and hospitality make it an extremely popular destination for visitors around the world. Many people are attracted to the history; Italy boasts some of arguably the most well known time eras internationally in the Renaissance and Roman Empire. You can imagine then, the high interest in original architecture, artworks, and sculptures left behind across the many beautiful cities like Rome, Milan, and Venice for example, bring many excited observers. Oh and who can forget Italy’s stupendous pasta and pizza. You can expect a level of passion and quality that goes into each Italian recipe that is unique only to the culture, passed down from generation to generation. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the Football scene, which is huge in Italy and perhaps the most important piece of Italian life, except of course, Family ☀️

This month for our episode, we’re taking you through the mystical lands of Ukraine (Україна). We collaborated with Kristina Kovynieva, a Ukrainian native from Makariv to bring you this one, hope you enjoy! ☀️

Ukraine boasts a wide diversity of scenery and experiences, being one of the largest countries in Europe. From it’s green, lush landscapes with small rural villages, to large metropolitan and cultural hubs like in Kiev, it can easily offer something valuable in every department. Many famous dishes have come out of this region such as borsch, pampushki, and salo. With a reputation for gorgeous and lovely women, it’s no wonder it has always attracted tourists from all over the world. And don’t forget about Ukrainian men who are some of the bravest and toughest amongst the world, putting their county above themselves!

Ukraine has been at the forefront of global media for over a year now due to the illegal war ongoing there. In March 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in the eastern provinces and began interregionally and indiscriminately bombing hospitals, schools, and housing for native Ukrainians. Millions of people have been displaced since that time, with tens of thousands of soldiers losing their lives standing up to the Russian invasion. Fortunately, Ukrainian forces have held their ground and amassed the support of nearly the rest of the world. As it fights for its freedom, peace, and honor, we shall acknowledge their battle and stand clearly in support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people! 🇺🇦
