STOP THE WARS.

It’s time to make it abundantly clear where Acquire Languages stands in terms of ethics and humanitarian ideals. We unequivocally condemn war that targets civilians (primarily women and children). We do NOT support war crimes that are committed by any nation that involve genocide, calculated murder of protestors, or forcible displacement of people from their homes.

Acquire Languages supports ALL people from ALL cultures and walks of life. No matter where you are from, what you look like, or which language you speak, we will stand with you as people and as humans. At the core of many conflicts around the world are common people, desperate to protect their families and loved ones. Shame on the cold governments, corrupt leaders and politicians, and greed stricken corporations for encouraging and supporting these international conflicts.

There is room for all of us on this planet. We will continue working harder than ever to realize more spaces for cross-cultural community, outreach for refugees, and overall support for those affected by these wars.

Peace to all of our friends, from around the world, and take good care of yourself and your family. Don’t give in to hate, no matter what.

From Language Comes the World

Our story these last two years took place entirely off of social media as we embraced more connection both locally and abroad. It wasn’t easy as the echos of those initial attempts at building something durable and helpful for many still rang with a certain discomfort. Imagine launching onto the scene with such fierce joy and passion, only to be met with relentless financial shortcomings and logistical failures.

For us, after that early rush of force calmed and the momentum that had propelled us forward also began to slow in 2023, it seemed that the truest, most authentic path forward for the company would be to return to its essence. The core values that we were founded on became more important than ever: diversity, culture, language, and at the center–people. We would teach, discover, and travel to many destinations through those next two years, and gradually both abroad and in San Diego, roots began forming–support DID show up in unlikely places. New friends became integrated into the hopeful vision of Acquire Languages, and so through them we began to understand the importance of community.

In Summer 2025 we established a non-profit, community group called Ocean Beach Language Exchange (OBLX) in San Diego, hosting free languages events and promoting cultural exchange. Early on, there was little interest and many events held no attendees, but through the months we grew and grew, eventually to nearly 75 members across both Meetup and NextDoor platforms. It was awesome to see the town begin to open itself to increased engagement and connection through language and culture, which hadn’t previously been so apparent within that area.

There’s no shorthanded recipe for success, no guide to reaching people’s ears or even their hearts, but it seems more than ever that this idea does have a place here. We have grown, maybe not in revenue or modern perspective of social media reach, but we have influenced people’s lives positively, that alone is worth something. We are so proud of that small impact and look forward to steadily and patiently progressing into a bright future.
