š¤ Free from the worry of money or spendingā¦
I recently spoke to a woman who wished she could stop worrying about money and feeling limited in her family's experiences. She wanted to take her kids to Disneyland but kept rationalizing that Busch Gardens was basically the same and if she did go, then sheād worry about packing snacks so it wouldnāt be so expensive to eat.
The worry and contraction around money and spending is an experience that many of us haveā¦It's a scarcity mindset we often inherit from our families and may be stronger in immigrant or minority families.
For me, Patagonia has always been a luxury outdoor brand, and no way I would justify splurging on it. I resisted it so much that I even scoffed at it (just shows how sometimes we judge what we really want and feel we can't have š).
The past weekend, I was packing for my current family trip to Europe. The forecast called for cold weather and I didn't have a light warm, packable jacket.
Sure, I could go to Uniqlo or get a cheap one on Amazon. But then I came across a Patagonia store, went in, and saw how great the jacket fit, the sustainable materials, etc and just thought āwhy not?!ā and realized that I didnāt even look at the price, because I donāt need to. This is a huge win.
I'm not saying it's fine to blow money (though if that's your vibe, go for it š). The real win is realizing I could afford it, no matter the price. For most of my 50 years, I've always looked at prices and rationalized purchases, a habit ingrained since childhood. There's freedom in knowing you have the financial means.
My question to you is, if you don't have financial freedom yet, what are you doing now to ensure abundance for yourself and your family?
