Two Los Angeles Football Club legends visited Westbrook Academy this week to help us cut the ribbon on our brand new futsal court gifted by LAFC, LAFC Foundation and Metro by T-Mobile ⭐️

We still can’t believe we had Denis Bouanga and Carlos Vela in the house for the event! The superstars met our students and even played a scrimmage on the new court.

Thank you to South Gate Mayor Barron, Assemblymember Solache, and California Senator Gonzalez for celebrating this moment with us.

Huge thank you to the LAFC, The LAFC Foundation, and Metro by T-Mobile for making this happen. ⚽️

We join fans around the world in celebrating Russell Westbrook as he closes an extraordinary 18-year NBA career.

From his MVP season to becoming the league’s all-time leader in triple-doubles, Russell has redefined what relentless effort and heart look like on the court.

But here at Westbrook Academy, we’ve always known him as something more than a champion competitor — he’s a mentor, a leader, and a driving force behind our mission to empower young people.

His dedication to our students and community has never wavered, even at the height of his playing career, and that says everything about who he is.

As Russell begins this next chapter, we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead. His passion for the next generation isn’t ending with retirement — if anything, it’s just getting started. Congratulations, Russ. We can’t wait to see what you build next.
