🎭⚖️ ABOTA Unscripted: Improv For Trial ⚖️🎭

Mark your calendars for May 23 (subject to change)… because this is going to be something you’ve never seen before.

What happens when
plaintiff lawyers,
defense lawyers,
judges,
and mediators

step onto a stage for a Theater Sports–style improv competition?

You get quick thinking.
Unexpected twists.
And a whole lot of laughter.

Brian Breiter and Joseph Limbaugh of Improv For Trial will be putting it on with ABOTA members — bringing the Bar and the Bench together for a night of unscripted fun.

No prepared statements.
No motions in limine.
No objections.

Just completely spontaneous, fast-paced improv competition.

If you’ve ever wanted to see trial lawyers and judges without a script… this is your chance.

It’s going to be bold.
It’s going to be unpredictable.
And it’s going to be very funny.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Improv For Trial ❤️

The courtroom was tense. Defense counsel had a stack of objections and a personality to match.

Our improv-trained attorney stood up, took a breath, and said, “Yes… and let’s talk about what really happened.”

The jurors leaned in.
Then they smiled.
Then they started nodding.

By closing argument, it wasn’t just persuasion. It was connection.

Because when you listen, stay present, and tell the truth without a script… the jury falls a little in love.

Improv For Trial.
Chemistry you can’t object to.

People kept asking if we’d do Improv for Trial again —
but in a way that doesn’t require a calendar intervention.

So… we are.

Improv for Trial is back as a one-day, in-person class.

One day.
No weekly commitment.
No pretending your outline survives first contact.

📍 Los Angeles
Improv For Trial Theatre
4929 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 780

🕙 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
💵 $1,000

🎟 Limited to 20 spots. Eight are already taken.

What happens:

– Witnesses go off-script (on purpose, this time)
– You learn what to do when your outline becomes decorative
– Jurors watch your body language (constantly)
– Judges do judge things
– Stories either land… or don’t — we work on the landing

No acting.
No scripts.
No “let’s all introduce ourselves.”

Just practical trial skills for a profession where surprise is guaranteed.

We’ve taught this to lawyers at Rex Parris, Alder Law, TLU, Keystone Law Group, Arash Law, Darryl Isaac, The Wallace Firm, and others who came in skeptical and left wondering why no one teaches this sooner.

If you’ve ever thought,
“Why did that just happen,”
this class will feel familiar.

Happy New Year from Improv For Trial.

As we step into 2026, we’re excited to continue pushing boundaries in advocacy, communication, and connection. In the new year, Improv For Trial will be collaborating with ABOTA to present an interactive program that brings together both the plaintiff and defense bars—creating space for learning, growth, and mutual respect through the power of improvisation.

Here’s to sharper skills, stronger bridges, and a year of meaningful collaboration inside and outside the courtroom.

🎬 This is Improv For Trial.
What started as a bold idea between Brian Breiter and Joseph Limbaugh has grown into a nationwide movement—transforming lawyers into powerful, present, and persuasive communicators.

With roots in professional theater and trial law, Improv For Trial brings the tools of improvisation—spontaneity, listening, connection, storytelling, and authenticity—into the courtroom.

From coast to coast, we’ve helped thousands of trial lawyers break free from stiffness, stay present with juries, and speak with true power and confidence. Whether you’re a first-year litigator or a seasoned courtroom veteran, this class changes how you practice—and how you show up.

💡 It’s more than performance. It’s transformation.
⚖️ It’s not acting. It’s advocacy at its most human.

Happy Thanksgiving from Improv For Trial.

Today is the one day of the year where everyone at the dinner table is forced to do improv, whether they like it or not. Someone will go off-script. Someone will create a plot twist. Someone will accidentally deliver a monologue no one asked for.

Remember the rules:
Say “Yes, and” to second helpings.
Project your voice when asking someone to pass the stuffing.
Stay in character when your aunt starts cross-examining your life choices.
And if things get tense, simply change the scene. Works every time.

Wishing you a day full of laughter, good timing, and the kind of family dynamics that could only be survived by skilled improvisers.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Learn to:
– Roll with surprises (like that witness suddenly “forgetting” everything)
– Pivot smoother than opposing counsel backtracking objections
– Make jurors laugh with you, not at your PowerPoint

👔 You can buy the costume.
