Today marks 35 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law, a key moment in disability rights history.
From the Capitol Crawl to the White House lawn, disabled activists have led the charge toward access and equity. Thanks to the ADA, we’ve seen real progress: curb cuts, captioning, classroom and workplace accommodations, and digital accessibility.
But the fight isn’t over.
Equity requires action. So today, we remember the power of collective advocacy, and commit to continuing it.

Happy World Emoji Day from DCP!
In 2019, we finally saw disability-specific emojis hit our keyboards, manual and powered wheelchairs, prosthetics, hearing aids, guide dogs, and more. It was a long-overdue win for visibility!
But representation doesn’t stop there. Many disabled experiences still aren’t fully reflected.
Let’s keep advocating for updates that represent the full diversity of the disability community!
