Has anyone ever talked you into or out of something? 🗣️

All of these phrasal verbs use the word ‘talk’. Some of them are separable and others are inseparable.

Separable: can be separated by another word that goes in between the verb and particle, e.g. talk someone into something.

Inseparable: cannot be separated by other words, e.g. talk down to someone.

Try using one in a sentence in the comments below!

Stative verbs describe a state rather than an action.
They often relate to thoughts, feelings, opinions, senses or possession. 💭

Some examples for stative verbs are: understand, agree, imagine, dislike, love and prefer.
They aren’t usually used in the continuous form.
However, some verbs can be both stative verbs or action verbs, depending on the context and their meaning.

e.g. have, be, see and taste ↔️
I have a dog. (possession)
I’m having lunch. (eating)

You’re so mean. (permanent quality)
You’re being mean. (temporary behaviour)

I see your point. (opinion)
We’re seeing a movie tomorrow. (watching)

This tastes amazing! (perception)
Try tasting the soup before you add more salt. (action)

Do you know any other examples of stative verbs?
