Today, we sent out letters to approximately 200 middle schools throughout SoCal, offering them our free resources to complement their 7th grade Social Studies unit on Islam.
MSN offers free educational presentations and classroom resources to schools, colleges, organizations and institutions. We present to thousands of people each year, educating them with factual and relevant information through a purely academic approach.

MSN Director, Saima Rafiq, was honored to be a panelist to address over 200 school administrators from the Murrieta School District. She shared ways to better serve Muslim students and their families, as well as the myriad of services that MSN offers schools, districts and teachers.

At MSN, we train our speakers to NEVER assume. Some honor students are clueless when it comes to Islam and Muslims, while others might know tons of information that are from “un-academic” sources!
Our speakers often start their presentations by asking students about what they’ve learned so far. As these students started to eagerly share what they’d learned, our speaker was in for a surprise! First, it was that Muslim countries don’t have governments, their laws aren’t fair to women, and that Muslim girls can’t leave home without their brother or husband. These students had been learning about Islam for three weeks, but did not recognize the picture of the Ka’bah our speaker put up on the screen. Our speaker skillfully covered the presentation while dispelling myths and stereotypes. After class, the principal, who had observed the entire talk, was so ashamed of how misinformed the students were that she promised, “Things are going to be very different around here.”
Keep the critical work of MSN in your prayers this Ramadan.
