It is impossible for me to tell you what to do when you know the teacher is not the right fit for your child. Most schools will not change a child's class once they're in it.
Instead of making your life and your child's life miserable, get the best therapists outside school for your child. The therapist you hire can advocate for your child. As an educational specialist, I find I can get more for my students by talking to the teachers myself than the parent can.

Does It Matter What Your Child Reads? You Might Be Surprised
How to embrace different forms of reading to instill a love of books in your child.
โAudible books, comic books, graphic novels, and the craze of collecting Pokemon cards can all motivate your child to want to read. Childhood classics like Harry Potter and The Magic Tree House series are still on all the best childrenโs book listsโthey've managed to stand the test of time. But if your little one is venturing into the world of reading, letting them have some control over what they consume will motivate them to care and pursue it as a hobby.โ

1. Read a story then make a character from the story out of stale, jumbo marshmallows.
2. Have your child read a book to their dog or a stuffed animal. (Never read a cat book to a dog, though!)
3. Have your child enter a contest. Sweetheart Candies had a contest and one of my students entered the contest. She actually won and had her saying put on one of the candy hearts for Valentineโs Day!
4. Read a story about an animal and make one out of shells bought on Amazon.
5. Have your child cut out words from magazines and newspapers and make a collage of them.
6. Become a pen-pal with an animal by going online to Here with Us Farm Sanctuary and writing to them. The animal will write back to your child!
7. Save Amazon boxes to build with.
Make a board game. Kids love doing this!
8. Redesign old cameras. I love them and children create characters out of them using googly eyes, feathers, shells, styrofoam pieces, tongue depressors, etc. (I use hot glue to stick buy an Ashley hardcover book from Amazon and have your child write or dictate a story to you about anything theyโre interested in. They can write about their pet, their vacation, or a friend. Whatever they want!
9. Give them a pound of butter and have them sculpt a character in the butter then write a story about it. This is messy but so much fun!
Cook with your child. There are many recipe books for kids. It is fun, reading, following directions, and yummy eating!
10. Take a cereal box that is empty. Cover with colored paper. Read a story then make a cereal with pictures of the story, and write what itโs about on the front and sides.

๐กExecutive functioning is sometimes called "the management system of the brain."
๐๏ธ The term refers to a collection of related skills, notably memory, organization, and focusing on tasks and goals.

โ๏ธ Show your child how to use their planner from school or use technology sites with calendars to make a list of what they have to do. Plan out their class work each week.
๐ If they have to do a report, help them find articles and books and read the resources with them. Use index cards or the computer to record the important points.
๐บ๏ธ Plan a trip with the family. This includes many executive functioning skills: where to go, what to pack, and what activities to do on the trip.

When students with learning differences are interviewed about how they were able to succeed educationally and, later, in their adult lives, they often highlight the impact their parents, educational specialists, teachers, speech therapists, physical therapists, and others had on their success.
Their parents and the professionals accepted their differences, provided them with access to content, and held them to high expectations.
If a student had someone advocating on their behalf, it made all the difference in the world. ๐๐ค
