We, the members of Chi Alpha Psi, were deeply saddened by the mass shooting that claimed the lives of eight people -- six of whom were Asian American women -- on March 16th.
We were also angered by the misogyny and anti-Asian racism that motivated these murders, as well as the 3,795 hate incidents committed against Asian Americans and reported to Stop AAPI Hate between March 2020 and February 2021.
As one of our core values, Chi Alpha Psi is committed to and stands in solidarity with the Asian American community. We expect our members to remain dedicated to confronting and dismantling all forms of bigotry, including the fearmongering surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic which has contributed to the uptick in racial violence towards Asian Americans.
If, like many of us, you find yourself unsure of how to help, we ask that you do the following:
Donate to and support organizations like Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAAJ), the Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF), the Center for Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS), and others centered around helping and protecting Asian Americans, as well as mutual aid funds. These organizations often have petitions, which you can sign, to.
Support local Asian-owned businesses in your area, which have been hit hard by the pandemic.
Make a commitment to continually educate yourself on the histories of racism and xenophobic discrimination towards Asians in the United States, utilizing books, documentaries and other resources to develop your understanding.
And, as always: see something, say something. We refuse to be silent.
Signed,
Chi Alpha Psi 2020-2021 Board

A reminder that our Dare Fundraiser on Instagram () is still up until the end of the week!! Make sure to check out the rules and some dare ideas on our Instagram highlights (and also to see some of our members do some fun dares).
We are so excited to announce our Chi Alpha Psi fundraiser!! ππ»π
As transfer students, we only have two years to make the most of our experience at a four-year college. This is why Chi Alpha Psi -- a co-ed transfer fraternity -- is so valuable to transfer students, who initially struggled to form connections and find a community after switching schools. In addition to struggling with the limited time here at UCLA, the COVID-19 pandemic has shortened our time on campus even further and made finding connections even more difficult.
Through Chi Alpha Psi, we've been able to meet and connect with one another and make the college experience more fulfilling. Some of the activities that we do throughout the year include socials, retreats, community service, school games, study sessions, community outreach and more. In agreement with public health guidelines, we've adapted our activities to an online format and have had virtual movie nights, painting nights, study sessions and many more!
In order to make our fraternity more accessible to transfer students of varying socioeconomic backgrounds, we keep our initiation fees and quarterly dues much lower than traditional Greek organizations. However, this also means that we have limited funds to support our members and our community.
If you would like to support Chi Alpha Psi in our endeavor to create meaningful college experiences and help the transfer community thrive, I would appreciate any and all possible donations. Every dollar helps. We are trying to reach our goal of $2,000 -- a portion of our proceeds will be donated to the UCLA Transfer Center.
Please donate to the Venmo:
I will use all funding for the following:
1. Purchase supplies for our events and socials.
2. Organize and supply study sessions throughout the quarter.
3. Provide transportation to and from events.
4. Fund the UCLA Transfer Center.
5. Provide high quality merchandise to pledges and members.
6. Fund recruitment and outreach efforts to community colleges and other universities and create a larger network of transfer students.
We truly appreciate your help in supporting our transfer community at UCLA!! π
