It feels like I’ve been paralyzed by grief these last few months. That sustained grief, the trickster. The one that creeps in when you think you’re having a good morning. The one that grows from the chest, up through the throat. Tightening, constricting. Can’t breathe for a moment. Can’t stop the tears, the tightening of the stomach. It’s all consuming. Breathe.

Of course, things have been getting done, not completely paralyzed. Living somewhere between self-care and destructive coping mechanisms. Waiting for the debilitation to subside.

I hear you telling us all to use our voices. I am reminded of the parable of the choir. We all need to catch our breath sometimes.

Been really focusing on the question, how do we build a collective? How can we most effectively use our voices to heal ourselves, each other, our community?

Transfer workshop for Formerly Incarcerated and System Impacted Students.

System-Impacted: “Individuals who have been incarcerated, those with arrests/convictions but no incarceration and those who have been directly impacted by a loved one being incarcerated. While those close to us, as well as the broader society are negatively impacted by our incarceration, it is often our partners, parents, children and/or siblings who face the most significant disadvantages behind our absence and thus, categorically merit this designation”

I Raven Elisabeth Deverux dropped out of high school. Had about the below for my 1st semester. Wound up dropping out of CC. Came back year later and am now in a PhD program.

School is hard for everyone. SCHOOL is hard for everyone.

Grades ultimately aren't what matter. Curiosity and perseverance matter. (And access to resources 😳) So let's work together.

Don't give up on what you want to do!

Well said 👏
